Name Tradition In Rusia and Korea

Hi everyone😊Welcome to my second post in my blog. In this case I will tell you about Name Tradition in Rusian and Korean countries.

First we start with the Korean country. In Korea, we often find names beginning with Kim, Lee and Park. For example, the names of my favorite idols like Kim Taehyung, Lee Jong Suk, and Park Jimin.

Indeed, in Korea the names Kim, Lee, and Park dominate even though there are still many other clans like Jeon, Jung, Min, Ahn, Byun, Han, Dang, or Jang. Apparently there is a history, why did Kim, Lee and Park dominate.
Starting in the era before the year 1000 AD, namely the Goryeo dynasty. The Korean King Wang Geon made regulations to give the nobility to the nobles which aims to find out which members have bloodlines with the king. For those who do not have any relationship with the kingdom, they can still get the clan name. The trick is to take the civil servant exam to improve family status. For anyone who has passed the test, they are entitled to use the surname in front and are recorded in the genealogy book. Koreans named Kim, Lee, and Park became markers if the person was a member of the kingdom and should not be used by ordinary people. But over time, precisely during the Joseon Dynasty in the 19th century, the caste system was abolished. Until finally in the 20th century, the entire population had a family name.
As a result, Koreans from the lower classes vying to own their own clan. The clans of Kim, Lee, and Park became favorite choices, because they would be considered to have descendants with kings or nobles.
As a clan originating from the royal clan, it’s no wonder why the names Kim, Lee, and Park are favorites. According to the population census in 2000, Kim’s name is the most numerous clan in Korea, which is as much as 22% of the population. Lee followed (15%), and Park (3%). The three clan names are almost owned by half the Korean population.

Next we turn to the Russian state. Family names in Russia are given based on heredity which shows the family tree. The use of family names was first made by the upper class of Russian society in the 16th century. At the end of the 19th century, farmers began to use family names, after the termination of the slavery system.
Russian family names end in "-ov", "-ev" or "-in". Russian names basically consist of 3 parts, first name, middle name and surname. Middle names and surnames have been available since they were born. So that parents only need to search for 1 first name. for example, if a child has the name Valey while the name of his father is Smirnov and his clan Petrov, then his name will be Valey Smirnov Petrov.
There are also family names that come from naming professions in Russia, such as Kuznetsov (from the word kuznets, blacksmith), Rybakov (from the words rybak, fisherman), Plotnikov (from the words plotnik, carpenters), and Melnikov (from the word melnik, handyman milled).
